Miguel Ángel Jiménez
Born: 5 January 1964, Málaga
Turned pro: 1982
After working his way up through the caddie ranks at his Costa del Sol home club of Torrequebrada, Miguel Ángel Jiménez earned his European Tour card by finishing sixth at the 1988 Qualifying School, was 85th in his first full season (1989) and in 1992 broke through for his first tour title, the Piaget Open in Belgium. In 1999 he lost a play-off to Tiger Woods in the 1999 American Express World Golf Championship at Valderrama, and the following year finished joint second behind the American (albeit by 15 shots!) in the US Open at Pebble Beach. In 2008 he won the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Six years later, he was again second, a bogey on the last hole leaving him one short of Bernhard Langer’s winning score and level with Vijay Singh. [...]
