Description

La Cala Resort is one of the largest and most exclusive resorts in southern Europe with three 18 hole golf courses, the only David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Spain and a high standard Par 3 six hole golf course. The natural features of the La Cala terrain have been used to challenging effect by the renowned golf course architect, Cabell B. Robinson. The three courses are carefully maintained to ensure they are playable all year round. The North Course (now renamed Campo America) is perhaps more difficult than the shorter South (Campo Asia) but both demand great accuracy from the tee and careful club selection. Meanwhile, the third golf course, Campo Europa, uses the River Ojen in making the course distinctive. The layout allows for plenty of water hazards. All three offer different challenges to all levels of golfers and demand good course management in addition to a wide variety of shots.

4 Played all the courses, well manicured greens receptive but superbly true and fast.. Europa very tight. Challenging carries on most holes, the ladies have less to carry but can still have a challenging round especially hole 4 on the Europa. The food and drink are a bit pricey. If you want a fantastic meal with great service check out El Jinete which is a restaurant on the way up to La Cala after the Santana turn off on the right (looks a bit like a farm house). We ate their twice, but if we had discovered it earlier on our trip they would have seen us most evenings. (View full Review...)

4 We played the three courses. Asia is the shortest and accuracy is at a premium. America is longer and very challenging, again demanding accuracy. Europa is wider with bigger greens. A real delight for all golfers. Many of the holes require good course management. The views are spectacular so don't forget to bring a camera. Nice clubhouse with friendly staff and reasonable prices. I will be going back. (View full Review...)

4 Played the south (Asia) course, very hilly but not impossible (a buggy is a definate) fantastic views of the surrounding area, some of the tee shots have got the most dramatic backdrop you ever likely to see. The couse was in excellent condition and I would definately go back, the only problem is which course to play ? If you can afford it play all 3. (View full Review...)
