About the golf course

The NEW Links Course, has one of the best views of the entire municipality of San Roque over the Mediterranean and is the only Links-style course in southern Spain. It has 18 holes par 72, and it was opened in 1992; nowadays, has been recently redesigned by Kurtis Bowman and is now a modern golf course sustainable. The renovation of the NEW Links has meant the reconstruction of all the tees, complex of greens and bunkers, redesign of a series of holes, housing one of the largest greens in surface in Spain. It is a challenging course, with unique views, and with a quality in its route at the level of the best courses in Europe. It is made up of wide fairways, double greens, large bunkers strategically located and gentle slopes that descend towards the sea, ending in a beautiful beach, creating a front of almost 2 km so that a large part of its holes border the beach. The new course has opened up even more to the sea and has one of the best views of the entire Costa del Sol over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa, which can be appreciated from all its greens.

Alcaidesa Heathland, consists of 18 holes par 72, designed by the renowned former Ryder Cup player and author of numerous internationally renowned layouts, Dave Thomas. This course offers a variety of natural scenery ranging from the plateau area (holes 1 to 5, 17 and 18) where the course is similar to a heathland, with wide fairways and outstanding views of the Mediterranean, to the valley area, where the holes meander along the valley and incorporate several water hazards. The total distance is: 6,373 m.

HSSGC 2009 Day 2 What a refreshing change to the 'pack em in' attitude of the courses between Malaga & Marbella. We played on a Saturday and it was like 'millionaires' golf! Some breathtaking views and great reward for the golfer who can hit straight! Not the longest of courses but the stiff sea breeze can influence any card be a high or low handicapper! If you like Links courses, you wont be disappointed!

A group of 8 played ALcaidesa Links in April 2014. For the price it is a fine course, some very interesting holes. A few ordinary holes near the end but worth playing if you are in the area. Clubhouse & staff friendly & helpful. Food good & reasonable.

In first week of August we played: La Cala Europa&America, Marbella golf club, Calanova, Los Arqueros, Santa Marija, Cabopino, Alcaidesa (Hcp 13,18,22,25). Here are the reviews: La Cala Europa&America: 5, Marbella golf club 5+, Calanova: fairways 4, forgreen 3-, greens 3 (hairy) , Los Arqueros: 4,3 (good greens), Santa Marija: fairways 4, greens 3- (soft, soft, soft, hairy, nothing to compare to other courses, couldn’t putt). Even shorter course now. I was skeptic, but the stuff said we can play with buggies at 17 p.m. because we will easily come around. We had lots of traffic on the way but still make it on time. Because we finished after 9 p.m. the stuff said directly that this was the last time we did something like that…. WTF. Will not play it again but not because of this misunderstanding. A place for older or higher Hcp with nice club house), Cabopino: if La Cala is 5 I give it 4,3 like Los Arqueros (on La Cala they did really good job), Alcaidesa: If Cabopino and Los Arqueros are 4,3 it should be 4 ( a bit dry but good greens), but then Calanova and specialy Santa Marija should desert 2/3. Don’t get me wrong but La Cala and Marbella golf club were perfect, usually Los Argueros and Cabopino shuld recive 5 for such condition. I was surprised on golf courses that they war in such good condition in summer. BTW we play a lot on “costa” in all seasons. Oh, accept La Cala and Marbella they will have to work on sends some more!!!

We played the Links course. It is in no way a links course, but, it is a fantastic place to play golf. One of the most scenic courses you will ever see, and a decent test of golf. The fairways were reasonable and the greens were excellent. By Costa del Sol standards we got round in good time, and all of our party of mid to high handicappers loved the course. You definitely need buggies. The clubhouse is very modern and attractive and service is excellent.
