Although there is no official announcement, various media outlets are reporting today that, in addition to the imminent and anticipated announcement of the 2031 Ryder Cup for Catalonia, a new tournament is expected to be announced shortly. This event, which could be named the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship, would replace the previous Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters. It would be held annually between 2026 and 2031 as part of the DP World Tour calendar, thus paving the way for Spain to host the Ryder Cup for the second time in its history, after Valderrama in 1997.

This new championship, which is shaping up to be a key requirement for the biennial event, would be played at the Camiral Golf & Wellness complex (formerly known as PGA Catalunya). The celebration of an event of this magnitude for six consecutive years underscores the commitment of the region and sponsors, such as Estrella Damm, to elite golf, consolidating Catalonia’s position as an international reference destination for this sport.
