About the golf course

Generally speaking the course is generous with wide landing areas. It is a course with a lot of sand, big bunkers and large greens. On most holes there are four tee platforms, on some as many as six.

Course in average condition. If you are a bit wayward take plenty of balls. According to the Marshall a 5 hour round is totally acceptable. Sorry but not for us. 3.5 to 4.5 hours is acceptable. At one stage in the game there were 3 teams waiting on the tee. Marshall said this was okay.

A busy holiday course with a decent variety of holes though too many of which were close to villas etc. Tees were in process of being relaid so conditions around teeing area were poor. Greens were ok but not of Desert Springs standard. Wouldn't rush back as prefer Aquilon and Desert Springs.

This is an excellent course with varied holes and some spectacular ones. The greens are fast but true, so good fun. The carry from yellow tees is quite long although there are forward tees if required. I played the course twice. On the first time I was invited to join a friendly German Sven and then by a British husband and wife pair who were very welcoming. On the 2nd occasion I was behind several 4 balls and a pair. After 2.5 hours for 9 holes the pair dropped out, no doubt due to the slow play. On reaching the 1st 4 ball, Brit/Spanish, on the 12th tee they courtesy waived me through. The next 'Little Englander?' 4 ball would not let me through even when they stopped twice to search for lost balls off the tee. They said that they were members and did not like visitors. The whole round took over 4.5 hours for a 5571 metres course. This is far too long when I would expect to play in no more than 3.5 hours. A good but frustrating day. On returning to Almeria this is unlikely to be my first choice.

What can i say, lovely hotel and spa, superb facilities and what a course, for a resort course i have only played a few courses where the fairways and greens are as immaculate.Superb test of golf most of the tees are raised so you can see most of what awaits you before you hit your teeshot(that's not always a good thing).Great views, some superb holes that you need to play for position to hopefully par.Greens are fantastic the ball runs true and keeps the line you have chosen well.Good blend of very tough/easyish holes. Very highly recommended, unfortunately being a resort course and very popular you are herded round a bit and asked to hurry if spending time looking for balls. Located in Almeria it is just a little bit too far too travel for the Murcia crowd which is a shame because it is worth the drive.
