Description

The course, designed by José GANCEDO was opened in 1989. The “man from Malaga” is one of the most creative golf designers. His philosophy is to create a golf course without ostentation and with a lot of respect for the natural shape of the land. According to him, “Every designer has his personality and I do what God implies me to do.” The Golf course is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The valley, in which Monte Mayor is laid out, clings to the slopes of Monte Mayor, under the ancient gaze of Monte Mayor Castle. The fairways of Monte Mayor Golf are seeded with Bermuda 419 (as are Augusta or Valderrrama) and we have some the best greens in Spain. Amongst the Professionals, Alex CEJKA practiced a lot here and enjoyed perfecting all his shots at Monte Mayor. He’s the course record holder with 66 (-5). The Driving Range opened in 2007. Simply breathtaking with 10 covered tees and 6 to 8 tees on open grass area.

4 Do not pass up on this one. Once you find it you will not forget it. Unbelievable front 9 , requires precision shots and course management.Back 9 seems a snip after front. Although the higher handicap player may find on the daunting side , it has to be played. Keep driver in the bag and plot your way round . Greens excellent. Avoid if you are a beginner . Fairways edged with red stakes , do not try and look for your ball if you miss fairways unless you like 100ft drops . 11/10 (View full Review...)

4.75 clever design and breathtaking views. Probably the best i've played in spain. Almost every hole deserves a picture. Tough to play, but good shots have good results, something that can't be said of every mountain course here. Smart design workarounds to complicate short holes, like all par 5's, for example.
