Spanish national amateur champion in every age group from 2000 to 2008, as well as 2007 British Amateur and 2004 and 2008 European Championship winner, Carlota Ciganda also made history as a student at the Arizona State University, becoming the first player to win back-to-back Pac-10 Championships in 2009 and 2010. While still an amateur, Carlota competed in the 2005 Tenerife Ladies Open (aged just 14), 2007 Open de España (she finished eighth) and 2008 Tenerife Ladies Open (third). She won the Murcia Ladies Open on the 2011 Ladies European Tour Access Series and the Spanish Women’s Professional Championship in April 2012, before securing her first Ladies European Tour victory in June 2012, the Deloitte Ladies Open in Holland.
