Pablo Larrazábal
Born: 15 May 1983, Barcelona
Turned pro: 2004
The son of a fish farmer who insisted he work in the family business before turning pro, to learn and understand the value of money, Pablo Larrazábal stunned the golfing world by coming through the 36-hole pre-qualifying event and going on to win the 2008 French Open against a star-studded field including Angel Cabrera and Lee Westwood. That maiden win gave him Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year honours at the end of the season. His brother Alejandro won the 2002 British Amateur Championship – Pablo caddied for him the following year at the US Masters.
