This was my first visit back to Santana in quite a while. It’s always in great condition and because we had a hire car this time we could venture a bit from our hub in La Carihuela, Torremolinos. We enjoyed the course which was in its usual condition but the standout aspect was the friendliness of the regulars and staff along with the quality of the restaurant’s food. The lower level of the restaurant is like a little grotto and the Spanish staff were very welcoming. I highly recommend that you should combine your golf with either a lunch or early dinner. They weren’t in a rush to empty the clubhouse after darkness like many clubs so the overall experience is fantastic!

Torrequebrada is my favourite golf course in Spain and I can’t think of a course I like more. The secret is the variety of the holes and the spectacular landscape. It’s a technical challenge compared to most other golf courses and probably needs to be played more than once to get the best out of your game. My only small gripe was the greens this time. I’ve played the course many times over the years and the surfaces weren’t up to their normal wonderful condition. I’m sure this will be rectified through maintenance and two greens were re sculpted recently so those two were good in relation to the time they’ve been in use. Nothing here will stop me from returning in the future as it’s the best course for miles and vastly underrated.

El Valle Is always a joy to play, with excellent holes. However, this is the first time playing the course when we commented on the greens. They were not in as good a condition as other courses played in the area.

The golf buggies were in need of upgrade. Brakes were dangerous for the very hilly golf course. We also hired golf clubs at €50 per round total for 2 rounds €100. Totally over-charged. The clubs were in very poor condition and only a cheap set. Very disappointed and a very poor reflection of clubs I have hired on previous trips to Spain and Portugal.

We had a lovely time at this golf club; great course amidst incredible scenery. The course was in great nick and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The clubhouse has a lovely terrace on which to enjoy the post-round beers and coffee. We didn’t have food but I heard someone say they do the best ‘menu of the day’ in the area. Would recommend as either an enjoyable nine-holes or a challenging 18. Hope to return soon.
