I recently went to Lorca as it was down as 1/3 of the courses my group were looking to play next year, so it was a mini scouting mission. From the motorway it looks spectacular but on closer inspection it was far from that! Unkept, greens looked awful, tee's were very grassy and looked like semi rough. There were no supplies in the pro shop (tees, balls, clubs) that I could see and the score cards were photocopies and badly done at that. Unless there is a massive improvement within a year I wouldn't go near it at all. Proceed with caution if your a golfer and expect a good level of course as it's everything but that.

Lovely setting, par 3's were longer than average so a challenge for higher handicappers. Unfortunately we played during greens maintenance week (they didn't warn us in advance)

A lovely course in good condition. The starter was very pleasant which was nice after a luke warm welcome. Our round was ruined on the 17th tee by a lout of a marshal who said we were slow - we had waited for the group in front most of the way round! Would go back!

Valderrama is a very exclusive and prestigious resort that more than lives up to its reputation. I had an absolutely exceptional time, the course quality was fantastic and it was the perfect challenge for me. The facilities were exceptional, as were the staff that are a true credit to the club.

A spectacular place to play golf in fantastic condition. Many holes have shots over ravines, or from elevated tees. I would imagine that there is very little like this in the UK. Two minor negatives; because it's so tough, play is a little slow, and often the nature of the course (for example the camber of some of the fairways) means that your occasional good shots often end up in all sorts of trouble. Still, I expect they say that at Augusta... A must play!

As soon as you get to the course, you are amazed by its beauty and how friendly the staff is. The course layout is also really good, but the services and the atention to course detail still need work Also, the value for money is good and the restaurant is good quality. The best thing is its really quiet and there arent that many people playing at the same time on the course so anyone can enjoy a good round of golf.

Mixed emotions about this course. Booked a couple of days in advance for a 3pm tee time and asked for a buggy and 4 sets of hire clubs. When we arrived they had to make up a bag of v old clubs for one of our party. and two of use got what looked like brand new sets of Ping G20s . That is until we got to the tee and discovered that the pings were mixed ladies flex graphites and steel shaft regulars. My set had virtually no steel. As they had no other clubs to give us we had to make the best of this. When we complained afterwards they gave us 20 euros out of the 60 it had cost to hire the two sets. They told us that some people like to play with mixed sets!!!!! However the course itself is challenging. Some good holes played over ravines and as mentioned above quite a few blind shots. The greens were in good condition and mostly fast and true. I enjoyed the course and would like to play it again with a proper set of clubs. The lady in the shop though needs to get some training in customer service

Played Mar Menor yesterday, and will probably not play it again as there are better courses in the same region. Pretty long course, especially front nine. Bunkers impossible to play well as they are hard as concrete. Not much varations between the holes. They are all flat, and protected by fairway and greenside bunkers. Not much water in play. Would recommend Las Colinas and La Finca (in Torrevieja) over this course any day.
